HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO
WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY WITH SOAP & WARM WATER BEFORE & AFTER HANDLING YOUR FRESH/HEALING TATTOO
-
Remove bandage within 1-4 hours of receiving your new tattoo & wash by hand thoroughly with warm soap and water, rinse well, and allow 5-10 minutes to air dry (DO NOT PAT DRY; NEVER RE-BANDAGE).
-
When dry apply a very thin amount of non-scented lotion or Aquaphor to the tattoo, rubbing it into the skin completely avoiding leaving it "greasy" or "shiny" (a very thin amount; LESS=MORE); wash your hands.
-
Repeat steps 1 & 2 every 1.5-2 hours throughout the day (4-6 times a day).
-
Between day 3-6 your tattoo will begin to peel and flake. This is normal.
-
Once this occurs, switch to washing your tattoo twice a day applying a moisturizing lotion as needed for dryness.
-
DO NOT submerge your healing tattoo in water (showering is fine).
-
DO NOT use washcloths or sponge products when cleaning your fresh/healing tattoo (USE HANDS ONLY).
-
DO NOT pick or scratch your healing tattoo.
-
Avoid direct sun exposure to your healing tattoo.
-
Roughly 2 weeks after your tattoo was done, come show us!! Your artist can schedule a touch-up at that time (if needed).
-
Contact your artist if you have questions or concerns.
